We certainly do have our ways of expressing ourselves, yet we'd hate to harm feelings (or whatever else) on the sole basis of language. A quiproquo may come, quicker than an arrow, and hurt so much more than a blade.
Still, as an English Knight, by all means, aren't you supposed to have good French ?
